Corona-Virus : Public acts of worship in our churches stops. Church is closed until further notice.

VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION
FOLLOWING THE PRIME MINISTERS STATEMENT THIS EVENING MARCH 23rd 2020
Monday 23rd March 2020

As directed by the government tonight, all places of worship must now close as part of the Corona-virus lock-down of the UK. This situation comes into force immediately and will be reviewed in three weeks’ time, so it also affects our Holy Week and Easter liturgies. This means that our churches must now remain closed. Priests shall offer the Mass privately on behalf of you, parishioners each day, with locked doors.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

It is a cause of great joy for very many people that this weekend both parish communities have the opportunity to return to public worship at Our Lady and St Patrick’s, Meadows.  For some time, we have longed to join in the celebration of the mass and other sacraments with family, friends and neighbours. Members of both parish communities, parish office staff, along with the clergy have been working hard to ensure that everything has been put in place to ensure that all of us feel as safe as we possibly can when we return to our parish church. Every parish and every church in the diocese are different so it is important that we observe the advice and guidelines that are given at Our Lady and St Patrick’s. I appreciate that many people may still feel anxious or concerned about participating in large gatherings of people. You may prefer to wait a few weeks before joining us for Sunday Mass and, in the meantime, continue to avail of our parish live streaming of the Mass via https://www.pscp.tv/ccolsp  Alternatively, you may wish to participate in a weekday mass on Wednesday when the number of people attending is fewer. If you feel unwell, please remain at home for your own safety and the well-being of others.

It is ESSENTIAL at this stage to book a place for Mass, Wednesday 10.00 am, Saturday Vigil Mass at 6.00 pm and Sunday Mass at 10.00 am by booking via https://massbooking.uk. Please go to the website and register your details and sign up. Once you have signed up, you can start a booking by first selecting the Church at which you want to attend Mass. (You can also save your favourite Churches to speed things up). You can then book one or more places at Mass. Please do not book any more than you need. Bookings for our church close 22 hours 00 minutes before the start of Mass. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. This would seem to be the fairest way of doing this with such restricted numbers. If the church is not full, there will be places available at the Mass on a first come, first served basis.

For this week only, if you do not have access to the internet, you can ring 0115 921 2964 on Saturday,18 July 2020 between 11 am and 12 noon to book a place for Mass this weekend.

The new times of the Mass at Our Lady and St Patrick’s are:  Wednesdays at 10.00am, Saturdays Vigil Mass at 6.00 pm and Sundays Mass at 10.00 am.

(Please note there will be no live-streamed Mass at Corpus Christi at 11 am on Sundays)

God Bless…

Fr. Wilfred Pereppadan SCJ
